An exciting moment

The arrival of our new aprons at F&W - direct from the Stanley & Sons Apron & Bag Company in New York. We have the narrow width selvage duck cloth & the hickory stripe, both with leather straps and snaps. Great quality and built to last…

St Anne’s Court

Almost a month since the much-loved, awkward third child of F&W, closed it’s curious sliding door for the last time. After 5 years of trading from 16a, a former training shoe store, it makes way for the latest F&W addition in nearby Denmark Street.

St Anne’s Court

From the St Anne’s archives – a fresh faced Phil stationed at the old Marzocco – a combination which, on their day produced some of the best F&W coffees ever.

Chocolate

Our hot chocolate from Domantas in Lithuania is made with the same care as his amazing chocolate bars. Genuinely bean to bar, the guys from Naive chocolate are hands-on for the entire process and you can certainly taste the difference. For ale in the shops, the packaging is pretty jazzy too…Available to buy to take home too. Bring on the cold weather!

Who We Are

Fernandez & Wells was founded by us (Jorge Fernandez and Rick Wells) in 2006, the result of a meeting in a coffee shop. At the time Jorge was manager at the Monmouth Coffee Company while Rick, a journalist with the BBC, was a regular customer. The vision was (and is) to provide a simple menu of the best food and drink products we can find and serve them in a space that is both beautiful and welcoming.

Pictures from a trip to Jerez in May and the cellars of one of the best boutique bodegas, Fernando de Castilla. Some delicious sherries and generous hospitality from the MD Jan Petterson (also a keen fisherman!)

Very exciting to taste the first ever vintage of the ‘Eminence Grise’ 2011, from barrel in the ‘cave’ just behind the house (due to be bottled in late autumn). Early days but shows great promise..!

Was very sorry to have missed going down for the recent ‘vendange’, the 2012, just last Saturday 20th.
